The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is off to a strong start, with Netmarble announcing that the anime open-world RPG climbed to No.6 worldwide on Steam’s Top Sellers chart shortly after its play early launch.

As per the press release, the game is not just doing well in one corner of the shopfront either. The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has posted major chart positions across several markets, including No.1 in France, No.2 in Belgium, Italy, and Spain, and Top 5 placements in Brazil, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, and Thailand. In the United States, it sat at No.11 on Steam’s Top Sellers chart as of March 16 at 7PM PST.

That is a pretty healthy debut for a game that has only just started getting its boots dirty.

Strong start on Steam and PS5

It is not only the PC crowd giving The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin a warm welcome. According to Netmarble, the game is also seeing a positive response from players on PlayStation 5, where it currently holds a user rating of 4.35 out of 5 following its early launch on the platform.

Right now, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is available on PS5 and PC via Steam, with its full launch set for March 23, when the game will also expand to mobile platforms and become playable across all supported devices.

Netmarble says early access has already driven strong worldwide interest, with growing community activity and player engagement across regions. So, in other words, fans have not exactly been shy about jumping in.

An open-world take on The Seven Deadly Sins

Based on the hugely popular The Seven Deadly Sins manga and anime IP, which the press release says has sold more than 55 million copies globally, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin lets players explore Britannia in a large open world.

The game features tag-based combat, combination skills, and customisable teams built from a range of characters and weapons. Multiplayer options are also part of the package, with players able to form parties for exploration or team up to take down bosses.

So yes, it is very much aiming to be a broad, busy action RPG spin on the series, with enough systems and character options to keep fans tinkering.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is available now on PlayStation 5 and Steam, with its full multi-platform launch set for March 23.
