SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is about to get a proper crossover-flavoured shake-up. SEGA and Lizardcube have confirmed that the SEGA Villains Stage DLC launches on 3 April 2026 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
As per the press release, this new DLC throws Joe Musashi into battle against three familiar SEGA heavyweights: Death Adder from Golden Axe, Goro Majima from Like a Dragon / Yakuza, and Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog. Which, to be fair, is a fairly wild guest list.
Joe Musashi takes on SEGA icons in five new stages
The big draw here is a set of five new stages inspired by classic SEGA worlds. That means the SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance SEGA Villains Stage DLC is not just tossing in a few boss fights and calling it a day. It is building whole stages around some of SEGA’s best-known series.
Alongside those stages, players will also get two new Boss Rush modes, three new ninpo, three new Joe Musashi outfits, and six new music tracks.
So yes, this is very much the sort of DLC that knows exactly what it is doing. A bit flashy, a bit nostalgic, and quite happy to let Joe Musashi punch well above his usual social circle.

Pricing, editions and upgrade options
The SEGA Villains Stage DLC is included with the Digital Deluxe Edition of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance.
Players who own the Standard Edition can pick it up separately for £8.99, or grab the Digital Upgrade Pack for £10.99 when the DLC releases on 3 April 2026.
As per the press release, platform-specific pricing and availability details can be found on the relevant storefront pages.
Free update adds Hardcore Mode and combat changes
The DLC is not arriving alone, either. On the same day, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance will also receive a free update patch.
That patch adds a new Hardcore Mode, along with combat system adjustments and updates to character outlines, map display, and tutorial display features. So even players who are not planning to pick up the DLC are still getting something new to chew on.
All told, this looks like a solid little package. The SEGA Villains Stage DLC adds the headline spectacle, while the free update gives the base game a tougher edge and a few useful improvements at the same time.
