You don’t have to wait for vengeance. SEGA and Lizardcube have surprise-dropped a playable demo of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, the upcoming 2D action platformer that puts Joe Musashi back in the spotlight and straight into slicing business.
Available today on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch, this free demo gives you an early taste of the high-speed ninja action before the full game lands on August 29.
Slice, Dash, Repeat
If the words “Joe Musashi” make your retro reflexes twitch, this one’s for you. Lizardcube – the same crew behind Streets of Rage 4 – is back with a new take on the Shinobi series. Expect fluid combat, hand-drawn eye candy, and boss fights that’ll test your mettle (and your patience).
The demo lets you leap into the first stage, Oboro Village, where you’ll battle through beautifully animated foes, dodge deadly traps, and hunt for secrets. Bonus: You get access to some abilities normally locked until later, so feel free to flex early.
Early Bird Ninja Perks
Pre-ordering digitally gets you a sweet 10% discount, the slick Original Arcade Outfit, and the Fortune Hunter Amulet. Physical editions are also up for grabs across Europe for PS5, Switch, and PC. And if you’re fancy, Limited Run Games is handling the Collector’s Edition.
Also, SEGA Account holders (or new recruits) can claim the exclusive SEGA Blue Outfit for Joe by linking their platform of choice between August 26 and September 29. Because what’s more stealthy than blue, right?
