KOEI TECMO and Team NINJA are ready to drag us back into yokai-infested history with Nioh 3, launching February 6, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are now live, and to celebrate, the devs dropped a cinematic story trailer directed by Shinji Higuchi, plus behind-the-scenes peeks at the game’s cast and systems.
A Shogun Torn Between Time and Blood
This time, you’ll step into the sandals of Tokugawa Takechiyo, the man destined to become Shogun during Japan’s Sengoku period. But power never comes easy. His younger brother, Kunimatsu, isn’t thrilled about being left behind – so much so that he teams up with a sinister force, summons an army of yokai, and plunges Japan into chaos.
Guided by his guardian spirit Kusanagi, Takechiyo gains the ability to transcend time itself, leaping between eras to survive, fight, and claim his rightful place as Shogun.
Bigger Story, Wilder Battles
Nioh 3 cranks things up to series-high levels. You’ll explore multiple eras and regions, including Edo Castle and Tōtōmi in the Sengoku era (as seen in the alpha demo), plus the newly revealed Kyoto of the Heian period. Each era opens into free exploration zones, with distinct landscapes and plenty of lurking yokai.
The Crucible awaits those ready for the toughest fights yet. Along the way, Takechiyo will clash blades with legendary figures like Takeda Shingen, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and Minamoto no Yoritomo – while familiar faces like Hattori Hanzo, Honda Tadakatsu, and Saito Fuku return to join the fray.
Adding even more star power, Tao Tsuchiya and Kanata Hongo lend their voices as Himiko, the mysterious queen of Yamatai-koku, and Kunimatsu Tokugawa.
