Big updates, crossovers, and combat tweaks are coming to Honkai: Star Rail’s next version.
HoYoverse has revealed that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4, titled “For the Sun is Set to Die,” launches on July 2. The story picks up in Amphoreus, where players will fight alongside Phainon, a long-teased character finally joining the team. Expect a deeper dive into his backstory as the stakes continue to rise and the Era Nova looms.
Phainon isn’t just here for lore — his in-game combat is built around accumulating “Coreflames” to trigger a powerful transformation, creating a new battlefield “Territory” where he can unleash enhanced abilities. His kit even boosts exploration by letting you take out weak enemies without triggering combat.
Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War
One of the headline additions in 3.4 is the Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] crossover, going live on July 11. In this special collab event, players will step into a Penacony game show called “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War,” where familiar Fate characters like Saber, Archer, and Lancer appear as summonable Servants.
Saber is a Wind-type 5-star who brings massive AOE damage with her “Excalibur” ultimate. She can chain actions quickly by charging “Core Resonance.” Archer, meanwhile, is a Quantum-type Hunt character who spams high-damage single-target attacks using a “Circuit Connection” system. His ultimate, “Unlimited Blade Works,” isn’t just flashy — it’s loaded with follow-up potential.
Players can claim Archer for free by logging in once the event starts, with banners and collab items available long-term.
Reruns, Revamps, and Fashion Updates
Version 3.4 also brings back a bunch of fan-favourite 5-stars like Tribbie, Sunday, Sparkle, Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade. Popular characters like Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Jingliu are also getting balance adjustments and new Eidolon effects.
A new outfit for Firefly, “Spring Missive,” will debut, and the long-requested “skip dialogue” feature is finally being added. Plus, the Origami Bird minigame is returning to add some lighthearted fun between all the galaxy-spanning drama.
Looking Ahead
Honkai: Star Rail continues to build momentum, boasting over 150 million downloads and a shelf full of awards. With new systems, epic collaborations, and quality-of-life tweaks, Version 3.4 looks like a must-play for both returning fans and new players.
