After more than a decade away, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is finally ready to march back onto the battlefield. As per the press release, the long-running strategy series returns in Steam Early Access and on the Microsoft Store via Game Preview on 30 April 2026, with PC Game Pass access available on day one too.

That is a pretty tidy way to make an entrance.

Built for old-school fans and fresh recruits alike, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era leans into the series’ classic mix of empire building, turn-based tactical battles and RPG mechanics. At the same time, it opens the gates to a brand-new land packed with secrets, danger and plenty of reasons to lose track of time.

The game promises a broad spread of ways to play. Players can tackle a narrative campaign, jump into Single Hero and Classic skirmish modes, try out Arena mode, explore premade scenarios or head into multiplayer with friends. There is also a mix of procedurally generated and hand-crafted maps, so whether you like a more tailored challenge or a bit of unpredictability, it sounds like Olden Era has both bases covered.

Olden Era brings classic Heroes strategy back

The big draw here is that Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is the first brand-new Heroes game in over ten years. That alone gives this release a fair bit of weight, but the pitch itself sounds nicely familiar. You will raise cities, build armies of mythical creatures and try to outplay opponents across a range of solo and multiplayer modes.

In other words, yes, it very much sounds like Heroes is back doing Heroes things. Which is exactly what many fans have been waiting for.

The press release also confirms a hefty localisation list. Alongside English, the game will support German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese.
