Breakthrough Update Drops August 7
At this year’s Descendant Fest, the team behind The First Descendant revealed massive details on the upcoming Season 3: Breakthrough update. Launching August 7, players will dive into Axion Plains—a massive new field perfect for large-scale battles and exploration.
New Content & Challenges
Axion Plains and Hover Bikes
Axion Plains offers vast open terrain loaded with new dungeons and encounters. Navigate this sprawling battlefield faster than ever using the new Hover Bike.
Colossus Field Raid
Team up with seven other Descendants to face the Wall Crasher, a colossal boss whose shockwaves and devastating AoE attacks demand teamwork and strategy.
New Descendant: Nell
Nell joins the fight as a versatile warrior using telekinetic powers. She can mark enemies, enhance ally attacks, and provide critical shields and buffs—perfect for both attack and support roles.
NieR: Automata Joins the Battle
Iconic androids 2B and A2 from NieR: Automata make their way into The First Descendant as playable characters, complete with unique skins, animations, and decorations. Check out the stunning collaboration trailer to see them in action.
Special Anniversary Rewards & Events
To celebrate, players can view personalized infographics of their in-game achievements over the past year, available on the official website starting July 3.
Additionally, The First Descendant soundtrack hits Spotify and other major platforms, with special in-game Spotify rewards available. Exclusive anniversary merchandise and items can also be claimed via the ‘Grab the Breakthrough’ event online.
Try the Breakthrough Demo Early
Starting July 24, jump into the Season 3 demo to experience Nell’s abilities, battle the Legion of Breach, and test out Hover Bike exploration across Axion Plains.
Helping Players Catch Up
From August 7, two limited-time events—Descendant Boost Up and Descendant Boost Path—will help new and returning players quickly reach mid-game content, making it easy to jump in and enjoy co-op action.
Roadmap and New Companion App
A detailed monthly roadmap was revealed, promising new dungeons, Descendants, and more throughout 2025. Plus, the new Companion App (available soon on iOS and Android) will help players track progress, items, and research directly from their mobile devices.
