NetEase Games has lifted the lid on Destiny: Rising Season 4, and it looks like a chunky one. Dubbed Season of Wishes, the update arrives on 26 March and, as per the press release, brings the biggest batch of changes the sci-fi shooter has seen since launch.

That means more original story content, new maps, extra co-op challenges, and a sweeping set of user experience improvements. It also means the end of Pinnacle Energy, which should be music to plenty of players’ ears.

Red Sea Rift gets new story dungeons and open-world events

The headline addition in Season 4 is a major expansion for Red Sea Rift. This destination is getting three new story dungeons, alongside a wider open-world sandbox to poke around in.

Players can either jump straight into those new narrative challenges or roam the region more freely, uncovering puzzles and building exploration experience for rewards. There is also a new layer of dynamic world content on the way, with Frontline Events and Public Events set to give fireteams even more to do.

In other words, Red Sea Rift is not just getting bigger. It is getting busier too.

Free Mythic characters, new weapons and tougher endgame content

Season 4 is also making a notable shift when it comes to unlocks. According to the press release, all new Mythic characters will be free to unlock through dedicated events, starting with Efrideet.

That is a pretty generous change, and one that could go down well with players who like their shiny new heroes without extra faff.

On the arsenal front, three classic Destiny 2 Exotic weapons are being added, along with a new Mythic weapon series. So yes, there should be a few more reasons to tinker with your loadout.

Elsewhere, the second original Gauntlet Onslaught raid, Great Hunt, arrives in early April. Players will head into Njorun Lair to challenge the boss and chase exclusive rewards through speed runs. Two new three-player cooperative Strike missions are also joining the rotation, with more maps and content updates spread across several modes.

Veteran players are getting a tougher test as well, with Operation Cordon and The Expanse both receiving new highest-difficulty tiers.

Pinnacle Energy is gone, and progression is getting a tidy-up

One of the biggest quality-of-life changes in Destiny: Rising Season 4 is the removal of Pinnacle Energy. As per the press release, that restriction is being scrapped entirely, letting players jump into game modes more freely.

That alone is a fairly big deal. Fewer barriers, more shooting. Hard to argue with that.

New players should also have a smoother time getting started. Early progression has been streamlined with faster experience gain and lighter chapter task demands, which should make the opening stretch less of a slog.

For long-time players, the level cap is increasing to 90, while a new Paragon Board system is being introduced to deepen endgame progression. On top of that, a new Season system will help players keep track of progress, and the reworked weapon and artifact systems add another layer of customisation.

All told, this sounds like a substantial update rather than a light seasonal shuffle.

Destiny: Rising Season 4 launches on 26 March, with Great Hunt following in early April. As per the press release, more details are expected in an upcoming developer blog on the game’s official channels.
