What happens when time, memory, and flesh all get shredded in one apocalyptic mess? You get Cronos: The New Dawn, the latest survival horror nightmare from Bloober Team (yes, the folks currently remaking Silent Hill 2). The game has officially lurched into Early Access on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S—and if you like your horror bleak, industrial, and just a little bit retro, this one’s for you.

Two Timelines, Twice the Terror

Cronos drops players into the ruins of New Dawn, a world inspired by the real Polish district of Nowa Huta. Here, reality is split between a decaying, post-apocalyptic future and the gritty steel-and-smoke vibes of the 1980s. The result? A grim mash-up of dystopian sci-fi, retro-futurism, and survival horror tension.

You’ll step into the battered hunting suit of The Traveler, an agent of the Collective sent into “zones” left warped by the cataclysmic Change. Expect haunting environments, twisted creatures, and very few guarantees you’ll make it out in one piece.

Launch, Preorders, and Physical Goodies

The full digital launch lands on 5 September for all platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2. If you grab the Digital Deluxe Edition (priced at $69.99), you score:

  • 48-hour early access (meaning you can already start playing as of 3 September)
  • Bonus ammo and energy packs
  • Three exclusive Traveler skins
  • A digital artbook and soundtrack

Prefer a shiny box on your shelf? Physical editions ($59.99) are on the way too. Produced with Skybound Games, they’ll include the standard game plus:

  • A unique Traveler skin
  • Digital survival supplies
  • A set of collectible Cronos-themed stickers

Release dates for physical copies are staggered: PS5 on 19 September and Nintendo Switch 2 on 21 October.

Trailer Time

Bloober have also dropped the official launch trailer, packed with new locations, grotesque monstrosities, and plenty of reasons to never trust a dark corridor. Special dev streams are running now on Steam if you fancy seeing more before diving in.

So—early access is live, the trailer’s out, and the horrors of New Dawn are waiting. Think you’re ready to survive the Change?
