If you’ve ever wanted to stumble blindly through a haunted, crumbling dimension ruled by ancient gods and grief, Asthenia might be your kind of hell.

In this upcoming dark fantasy adventure from solo dev Manthos Lappas, you play as Adam—just a regular bloke hurled into a festering realm that’s slowly collapsing under the weight of disease, war, and cosmic rot. Survival means making brutal choices, facing warped foes, and scrounging for scraps in places long since abandoned by anything sane.

A Gauntlet, a Ghost Town, and No Clue Where You Are

Forget maps and quest markers—Asthenia throws you headfirst into the unknown. With only the Ancient Gauntlet to guide (and defend) you, you’ll need to rely on your eyes, ears, and gut instinct to survive. This relic serves as both weapon and tool, helping you manipulate the world and defend against horrors that don’t play fair.

Environments range from derelict towns and industrial husks to temples half-swallowed by time. Resources are limited. Threats are everywhere. And Adam’s only real goal? To find a way back to the one he loves.

Storytelling in Whispers, Symbols, and Rot

Rather than spoon-feeding exposition, Asthenia lets its world do the talking. Expect fragmented letters, eerie environmental cues, subtle sound design, and Adam’s own narration to drip-feed you meaning. It’s a slow, uneasy burn inspired by the likes of Resident Evil 7, Silent Hill, Outlast, and Dark Souls.

As per the press release, this is a story about decay, faith, and irreversible choices. You’ll have multiple endings to discover, shaped by your decisions and how much you’re willing to lose.

“I wanted to create a world that feels oppressive, mysterious, and alive,” said Lappas. “Where discovery is earned, not handed to the player.”
