Nintendo just held a showcase revealing indie titles coming to the Switch; here’s the games revealed during the event, with a link to the full video at the end of the article.
Hades
The rogue-like dungeon crawler, Hades, by Super Giant Games, comes to the Switch. You play as the Prince of Hell, Hades, as he fights against the God of Death with aid from the rest of the Greek Pantheon. Those who have already played the PC version will be pleased to learn that progress can transfer between the two systems. The title launches this Autumn.
Hypnospace Outlaw
Hypnospace Outlaw is an exploration game with a twist – set on an alternate history internet, you take on the role of an Enforcer, protecting the ‘net from hackers, copyright infringement, and more. If Angelfire as a game piques your curiousity, the game launches this August 27th; a demo is out now, on the eShop.
Spiritfarer
In Spiritfarer, you take on the role of Stella – ferrymaster for the recently deceased. As you guide souls on their journey into the beyond, build your ship, and your friendships, in a tale sure to touch your heart.
Garden Story
A charming RPG by Rose City Games, Garden Story puts you in the stem of Concord, a grape determined to rebuild his town and gather his fruity friends. Fighting against the dreaded Rot, strengthen yourself – and your community – in 2021.
Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero
The exploration-survival games, Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero, are getting a port to the Switch. Explore the oceans of an alien world, and gather whatever resources you can to get by. The ports will release in 2021.
Takeshi and Hiroshi
As a young game designer named Takeshi, you must entertain your younger brother, Hiroshi, with your latest creation. You must design the game so that it is challenging, but not impossible, so that your brother can enjoy it. A mix of game design and RPG, you can experience this heartwarming tale today.
Raji: An Ancient Tale
A treat from Nodding Heads Games, Raji: An Ancient Tale takes inspiration from Hindu and Balinese mythology. Taking the role of Raji, a woman chosen by the Gods, you must fight off the demons waging a new war against the realm of humans. The title releases today, as a timed exclusive on the Switch.
Bear and Breakfast
Step into the paws of Hank, the new caretaker of a Bed and Breakfast in Gummy Cat Studio’s latest game, Bear and Breakfast. Design and furnish your property, and manage your guests to create the best place to stay in your neck of the woods! This game is a timed exclusive on the Switch, releasing next year.
A Short Hike
Explore the peaceful landscapes of Hawk Peak Park in A Short Hike: A relaxing, casual exploration game. Go off the beaten path, talk to other hikers, and even help them – its all at your pace. This game releases today, as a timed exclusive on the Switch.
Card Shark
Made by Nerial, Card Shark puts you as a gambler in 18th century France. Your goal? Make big bets, and use any trick in the book to make it pay off. As you go from swindling the local drunks to the King himself, you have to up your anty, and try to keep your head. This game releases in 2021.
Torchlight III
The latest entry in the hit Torchlight franchise, you once again enter the fray against the forces of dark alchemy in this spiritual successor to Diablo. Pets will have their own skill trees this time around, and you’ll gain a base to kit out as you desire. Torchlight III releases in Autumn 2020. Players on the Switch will gain an exclusive Red Fairy pet, too!
Manifold Garden
A puzzle game inspired by surrealist artworks, you must use your brain to solve some truly strange puzzles in rather unexpected ways. William Chyr Studio’s breathtaking title releases later today.
Evergate
In Stone Lantern Games’ newest title, you take on the role of Ki – a young soul with the ability to unleash the Soulflame. Using their powers, Ki must traverse a 2D world that stradles the realms of life and death, in order to recover their memories and save the Afterlife. Evergate releases later today.
Other indie titles touched on in the presentation, although not in any depth, include Haven, Going Under, The Red Lantern, Unrailed!, Struggling, Inmost, She Dreams Elsewhere, Grindstone, and GONNER2.
At the end of the presentation, it was revealed that Untitled Goose Game would be getting a free multiplayer update on September 23rd. A physical version of Untitled Goose Game will also be releasing in the near future.
