So I think by now it’s easy to see that this last decade in games has been a good one for all of us. Looking forward there’s loads of games that I hope will have sequels; some of these are highly unlikely, others far more likely, if not already certainly announced:
Kicking off this list is Horizon Zero Dawn – It’s no secret that this is one of my all time favourite games; if someone says they haven’t played it within a week, they’ll likely have their hands on my spare copy! I love this game so much! The world, the characters, the story… I recently heard that there is going to be a comic series that picks up straight after the events of the first game, but I’m still sat on the edge of my seat waiting for the confirmation that a second game is in development and coming soon. I need to delve back into that world, especially after that cliffhanger post-credits…
Now I know this is one that I will never get – Due to the game vastly underselling, the planned sequel was cancelled… Since then, it seems to have gathered a kind of cult following, and stranger things have happened after all..! It does leave me wondering what a sequel would look like – Would Trip and Monkey try and bring down Pyramid? Would they join for a while? Who knows? I guess we will likely never find out.
This is by far one of the best games I have played on my PS4 – It has that awesome open world feel whilst also seeming achievable. Some open world games feel never-ending, and some of the side quests just seem pointless… But with Spider-Man, I never once got that feeling. 100%’ing the game didn’t feel like a chore or unachievable, I genuinely enjoyed it! I’d love another game – Until then, I reckon I’ll have to pick up the DLC and crack on with that.
I know we only just got a new Luigi’s Mansion, but it was honestly so, so fun and so good that I can’t wait to see where this franchise is going! I think it’s a pretty safe bet that there will be another one at some point, so I’m not too worried… But until then, 3 definitely has a lot more for me to discover.
Now I know there was a lot of controversy surrounding this title last year, however reading it, it does appear that much of the leg work was done by the other developers that went through their own struggles and hardships with the person in question – It seems like they really deserve to do well going forward, and this is a much beloved game by many – I would jump back into the Night in the Woods universe in a second!
Now I know this has already been announced, but I still feel like it belongs on this list because it’s a sequel I REALLY REALLY WANT. I honestly can’t wait to see what’s going to be done with the Breath of the Wild world and formula!
I love the Bioshock series and I really liked Infinite – I would be excited to see this series go in another new direction, of course with some of the old mechanics. I know that it’s now under the care of a new set of people, but perhaps there is something exciting around the corner…
