The Lunar Event is currently on in Overwatch – It’s brought us new skins for Year of the Rat, and Capture the Flag is back! I’m quite enjoying Capture the Flag Blitz, because the flags are super close together and it’s a far better fast paced brawl, rather than the tactical long distance running involved in regular capture the flag. The flags are basically in the sudden death positions for the whole game; it’s great!

New skins include 3 free ones you can pick up by winning 9 games in the respective weeks – These are “Monk” for Doomfist, “Ancient Bronze” for our lovable mascot Winston (this skin is actually really cool), and “Paper Cutting” for the lovable Wrecking Ball, which is also super adorable as he’s all bronze and shiny and cute. Brigite, Lucio, Moira and Sombra also all have new skins for this year – Along with a whole host of new emotes, voicelines, victory poses and sprays! Remember, when Overwatch 2 arrives they’ve promised we get to carry all our hard work and grinding for skins over into the new game (yay)!

However I find myself turning on Overwatch less and less now, because I know it’s not offering me anything new and exciting. Whereas before I was excited for new skins and time restricted arcade games, I now find myself dreaming for the future of this series.

Now, if you’ve read much of what I’ve written before you’ll know I love Overwatch. I really do. But since seeing the trailers for Overwatch 2, I’ve become less enthralled with it. Yes, it’s still an amazing game and fun to play with friends, but I feel as though I’m just stuck in a waiting game. Does anyone else feel this?

I know they’re trying to keep Overwatch in the forefront of our minds, especially with the Switch release, because who doesn’t want to play Overwatch on the go? But as time goes on I’m really feeling that the pacing between Overwatch and its sequel is toooo long. However, I appreciate that developing games is tough, and Blizzard already do an amazing job with all of their extra free content, so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much.

However, for those of you that have seen Overwatch 2 and are interested, but have never played Overwatch, I’d highly suggest you pick it up in the mean time. It’s a lot of fun and you can pick it up reasonably cheap!

Perhaps I’m just too greedy and impatient! But for me Overwatch 2 can’t come soon enough!
