Magellan Tide Games has revealed Feed The Fire, a new first-person co-op survival horror game for 1-4 players coming to PC via Steam.

The setup is simple enough: your sister has gone missing during a camping trip, the surrounding forest is full of things that would quite like to kill you, and your campfire is apparently the only thing stopping the worst of them from getting too close.

So, naturally, everything should go smoothly.

Feed The Fire revolves around a day and night cycle. During daylight, players can explore the woods, search for clues, gather food and materials, craft tools, and build defences around camp.

Once the sun goes down, the game shifts firmly into survival mode.

Feed The Fire gets much nastier after dark

According to the press release, horrors roam the forest at night, including both human and non-human threats. Some stalk players through the trees, while others head directly for the camp.

Weapons are limited, nights are long, and the campfire becomes your main line of defence.

The catch is that it constantly burns through fuel. Players will need to keep feeding it with wood, coal or anything else combustible enough to keep the flames alive until sunrise.

Let it go out early and, as the developers put it, you almost certainly will not see morning.

Proximity chat should make co-op suitably chaotic

Feed The Fire supports solo play or co-op with up to three friends, with proximity chat adding another problem to the pile.

Splitting up may help cover more ground, but it also means wandering far enough away that your teammates might not hear you when something unpleasant appears between the trees.

Runs are randomised so nights can play out differently each time, while most sessions are designed to wrap up in under an hour.

The game also includes customisable characters and Steam integration.

Feed The Fire is currently in development for PC via Steam, with its release date and pricing still to be announced.

The Steam page is live now for wishlists, while the reveal trailer offers the first look at Magellan Tide Games’ debut title.
