Conradical Games and Oro Interactive have announced Screen Stocks, a multiplayer stock trading simulator where everyone plays the same market. Better yet, you can try the chaos for yourself, as a playable demo is available now on Steam.
The game mixes real-time stock trading with clicker-style progression. Players can buy, sell and short stocks while competing with other traders to build the biggest virtual fortune.
A new Screen Stocks trailer has also landed alongside the demo, showing off its shared market and some of the ways players can attempt to get ahead.
Everyone trades the same market in Screen Stocks
The big twist is that every Screen Stocks player operates within the same real-time market.
Stocks each behave differently. Some climb steadily, others swing all over the place, while seemingly quiet stocks can suddenly take off. However, other players are buying and selling at the same time, so things can change quickly.
A large purchase can send a stock soaring, while a sudden sell-off can pull the price back down. Players can even team up with other traders and attempt to push a stock in their preferred direction.
That means spotting an opportunity is only half the job. You also need to decide whether to play it safe, take a gamble or act before another trader beats you to it.
Level up, upgrade and Go Public
Screen Stocks combines its multiplayer trading with clicker game progression. You’ll start small, earn income and reinvest your profits into a growing portfolio.
Levelling up improves stats including income, dividends and stock volume. Progress also unlocks additional stocks, while upgrades can provide bonuses such as automated actions.
Eventually, players can choose to Go Public, Screen Stocks’ take on a prestige system. Doing so resets your bank account but provides stronger starting stats for your next run at building a fortune.
You don’t need to spend the whole time staring intensely at imaginary financial charts, either. Screen Stocks can run fullscreen or sit in the corner of your desktop while you’re doing something else. The market continues moving in the background, so you may return to find things looking rather different.
