After three years in Early Access, Yet Another Zombie Survivors has finally hit version 1.0 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Awesome Games Studio has packed the launch with what it describes as roughly four major updates’ worth of new content, all without increasing the game’s base price.

The squad-based bullet heaven has already shifted more than 600,000 copies and picked up over 13,000 Very Positive Steam reviews during Early Access. Across that time, the team released eight major updates shaped by player feedback.

Now, rather than quietly removing the Early Access badge and calling it a day, Yet Another Zombie Survivors 1.0 adds a new Survivor, map, game mode, HUB area, story content, items, achievements and plenty more.

Ranger, Bio Lab and Boss Rush lead the 1.0 update

The Ranger joins the roster as the game’s ninth Survivor, and she isn’t arriving alone. She comes with two animal companions to help tear through the undead.

There’s also the new Bio Lab map, which ties directly into the origins of the zombie outbreak.

Meanwhile, Boss Rush gives players another way to test their builds. You’ll need to power up quickly before facing the ultimate boss at the 10-minute mark, with leaderboard positions waiting for anyone keen to turn zombie destruction into a competitive sport.

Awesome Games Studio has also released a special animated trailer to mark the occasion.

The Camp brings story content to Yet Another Zombie Survivors

One of the bigger changes in Yet Another Zombie Survivors 1.0 is The Camp, a new HUB area that expands the game beyond its traditional run-based structure.

As per the press release, The Camp features missions, radio transmissions, Survivor conversations and hidden details. Players can follow main story quests surrounding the source of the virus, alongside personal missions that dig into each Survivor’s background and relationships.

The update also adds new cross-Survivor synergies and a fifth rank for Survivor skill trees. There are 21 new items, 88 new achievements and optional Torments for anyone who thinks the regular apocalypse is simply being too polite.

Quality-of-life improvements also make the cut, including faster loading, better performance, new music and refreshed sound effects.

At its core, Yet Another Zombie Survivors still revolves around building a three-person squad and finding increasingly ridiculous combinations of abilities. Players can unlock Survivors, experiment with team compositions and develop builds across nine skill trees.

Version 1.0 adds more reasons to come back between runs too, with quests, story content, arena bosses, challenges and plenty of puns and Easter eggs scattered throughout.

Yet Another Zombie Survivors left Early Access on August 20 at 11:00 AM UTC. It’s available on Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

A Nintendo Switch version is set to follow soon after.

The base price remains unchanged at $14.99, while free demos are available on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
