Stormind Games has confirmed that Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy will launch on October 27 for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The third and final chapter in the Remothered survival horror trilogy promises psychological tension, human enemies and enough deeply unpleasant secrets to make Halloween feel positively relaxing by comparison.

A family nightmare at the foot of Mount Etna

Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy follows Susan after her daughter disappears inside an isolated residence near Mount Etna.

Her search quickly becomes something considerably worse. Susan must explore hidden rooms, uncover buried memories and avoid relentless human Stalkers while digging into the forgotten origins of the Red Nun.

As per the press release, those secrets also reach deep into Susan’s own family. So, you know, probably not the sort of place where everyone gathers for a nice cup of tea afterwards.

This latest entry also gives players more ways to push back against the horrors hunting them. Limited melee weapons can keep Stalkers away during desperate encounters, while hypnosis powers open up new paths and hidden secrets throughout the villa.

Those abilities include retrocognition, mirror abilities and moth manipulation. Players can use them to uncover forgotten memories, alter the environment and reveal previously inaccessible routes.

Classic survival horror with some modern tricks

Stormind Games describes Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy as a modern return to classic third-person survival horror.

Players will need to hide, evade enemies and choose carefully when to fight back. Exploration also plays a major role, with clues, key items and puzzles opening new areas as Susan moves closer to the final revelation.

The story will also dig into the Cristo Morente, a Sicilian convent tied to the origins of the Red Nun. Expect burned faith, buried guilt and forbidden rituals, which sounds like a fairly standard Tuesday in survival horror.

The game features performances from Cissy Jones, known for The Walking Dead, Life is Strange and her BAFTA-winning role in Firewatch. Maggie Robertson, who played Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village, also joins the cast.

Meanwhile, Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka is handling the soundtrack. Because apparently being chased through a horrifying villa was not stressful enough already.

Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy launches on October 27 for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The game can currently be wishlisted on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG.com.
