Duskfade has officially launched today, August 13, bringing its colourful Clockpunk world to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
Developed by Weird Beluga, the studio behind Clid the Snail, and published by Fireshine Games, Duskfade is available for $29.99/€29.99/£24.99. There is also a limited-time 20% launch discount available on Steam.
A Clockpunk adventure through eternal night
Things are not going particularly well for Duskfade hero Zirian.
After the world is plunged into eternal night, his sister becomes trapped inside a mysterious Clock Tower by Despair. Zirian must pick up his clockwork sword, head into the darkness and attempt to restore the fabric of time itself.
No pressure, then.
His quest centres around uncovering the secrets of the ancient Master Clockmakers. Along the way, players will travel through ethereal forests, underwater realms, sun-scorched dunes and other increasingly dangerous locations.
Duskfade mixes 3D platforming with action-focused combat throughout the journey. Zirian carries a transforming clockwork blade and is joined by his mechanical companion, Cuckoo.
As players progress, they will unlock more combat and traversal abilities. These let Zirian slash through enemies while grinding, jumping and grappling his way across each stage.
Exploration also plays a part, with secrets tucked away for players willing to wander beyond the obvious route.
Combat, platforming and some surprisingly heavy feelings
Boss battles and platforming challenges might be front and centre, but Weird Beluga is also putting plenty of emphasis on Duskfade’s story.
As per the press release, Zirian’s coming-of-age journey is designed around emotional hurdles as much as physical ones. Enemies and challenges represent deeper struggles that he must overcome while trying to rescue his loved ones and save the world.
So yes, you will be smacking enemies around with a transforming clockwork sword. You might also end up confronting some feelings along the way.
