The Skin Stapler is available now on Steam, inviting players into a short, story-driven horror nightmare packed with serial killers, rotting neon and more gore than any sensible city planner would allow.
Developed by Tainted Pact and published by Assemble Entertainment, The Skin Stapler launched today, 6 August 2026, priced at €14.99.
The game comes from the creator of Flesh Made Fear, Massacre at the Mirage, Terror at Oakheart and Suffer the Night. So, naturally, this probably is not the place to look for a relaxing evening stroll.
Hunt a Serial Killer Through Carrion City
The Skin Stapler takes inspiration from grimy 1980s VHS slashers, exploitation cinema and classic PlayStation-era horror.
Players follow burned-out detective Dick Slater and his rookie partner Robbie Knox as they investigate a serial killer terrorising Carrion City. What begins as a straightforward manhunt soon develops into something far more disturbing.
The killer has turned the city’s streets into a personal gallery of gore. Meanwhile, every new corpse brings the detectives closer to the truth behind the murders.
As per the press release, the game mixes a sinister narrative with warped audio tapes, decaying environments and blood-soaked interiors designed to stick in your memory.

No One Leaves Carrion City in One Piece
Players can explore the ruined streets and interiors of Carrion City while piecing together the story behind the killer.
Audio tapes slowly pull you deeper into his world, while shocking sequences aim to keep players watching from behind a conveniently placed pillow. Pitch-black humour also cuts through the violence, offering a few laughs before everything inevitably gets worse.
The full game follows a Steam demo that earned a Very Positive rating. Thousands of horror players and content creators tried it, including CaseOh and MoistCr1TiKaL.
The Skin Stapler is also featured in Tiny Teams, Yogscast’s annual Steam festival celebrating small development teams with very large ideas.
