James Bond is back on the sticks at last, as 007 First Light launches globally today from IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios.
The new spy adventure gives players a fresh take on Bond’s early years. As per the press release, 007 First Light tells an original, reimagined origin story about a young James Bond earning his place in MI6’s elite 00-Programme. No pressure, then.
The game is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon.com, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also due later in Summer 2026.
A Younger Bond Steps Into MI6
In 007 First Light, players become a 26-year-old James Bond. He starts out as a promising, slightly reckless Royal Navy air crewman before being recruited into MI6’s newly resurrected 00-Programme.
For the first time in video games, fans can follow Bond’s rise from recruit to fully fledged spy. His instincts, resourcefulness, and heroism push him into the world of covert operations, where things probably do not stay calm for long.
IO Interactive is also bringing its mission-led design experience from the HITMAN series into Bond’s world. Players can tackle missions through infiltration, investigation, bluffing, brute force, strategy, or, because this is Bond, disarming wit.
Expect Q-Branch gadgets, dangerous set pieces, and globe-trotting espionage with the kind of elegance and chaos the series is known for.
“With 007 First Light, we set out to honour the incredible legacy of 007 while creating a Bond gaming experience like no other,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive.
007 First Light Cast Includes Patrick Gibson, Gemma Chan and Lenny Kravitz
The game also comes loaded with a chunky cast. Patrick Gibson plays James Bond, with Priyanga Burford as M and Lennie James as Bond’s mentor, John Greenway.
They are joined by Alastair McKenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny, and Noemie Nakai as Miss Roth. The cast also includes Gemma Chan as Dr. Selina Tan and Lenny Kravitz as Pirate King Bawma.
There are also cameo appearances from Khaby Lame, Jacksepticeye, and Shroud, because apparently Bond’s contact list is more stacked than ours.
Lana Del Rey and David Arnold Deliver the Theme
No Bond outing is complete without a memorable theme, and 007 First Light has gone big. Lana Del Rey and legendary Bond composer David Arnold co-wrote and performed the official theme song, “First Light”.
The game’s score comes from UK duo The Flight, while Dimitri Vegas and Chase & Status also appear in-game. Chase & Status provide original music for a high-voltage club sequence, which sounds exactly as subtle as Bond nightlife should be.
Cars, Gadgets and NVIDIA Tech Join the Mission
Naturally, Bond is not heading into the field empty-handed. 007 First Light features the Aston Martin Valhalla, modified by Q-Branch for high-stakes encounters.
The game also includes Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, a special Triumph motorcycle, Leica camera tech, and the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light.
On PC, IO Interactive has partnered with NVIDIA to push the game’s visual tech. The studio’s Glacier engine supports DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, with Path Tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction coming later this summer.
007 First Light is available today in Standard, Deluxe, Collector’s, and Legacy Editions.
