Geralt clearly was not done sharpening his silver sword. CD PROJEKT RED has announced Songs of the Past, a third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, launching in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
As per the press release, Songs of the Past will once again put players in the boots of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia. This time, he returns for a brand new adventure in the dark fantasy world that has already swallowed more free time than most of us care to admit.
Geralt Returns in The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past
CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory. That should perk up a few witcher senses, as the team includes industry veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The expansion will arrive more than a decade after the original game first launched in 2015. Since then, The Witcher 3 has sold more than 60 million copies and picked up over 250 Game of the Year awards, along with more than 1,000 industry awards.
Not bad for a game about a tired dad hunting monsters, making difficult choices, and trying very hard to keep Ciri alive.
More Songs of the Past Details Coming in 2026
CD PROJEKT RED says more information about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will be shared in late summer 2026.
For now, players can look forward to returning to the role of Geralt when the expansion launches in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Continent apparently still has a few contracts left on the notice board.
