New Exotic sword, shady syndicates, and a criminal underworld on Mars? Yeah, we’re in.

The galaxy just got a little grittier. Destiny 2: Renegades drops today, and it’s not just a new expansion—it’s a full-blown sci-fi love letter to Star Wars™, with Bungie teaming up with Lucasfilm Games to launch Guardians into a story dripping with rebellion, shady deals, and kinetic swordplay.

This second expansion in the Year of Prophecy kicks off a fresh chapter in the Fate Saga. Renegades sees you abandoning the Vanguard (yep, again) to join up with the Drifter and his merry band of rogues as they take on the Barant Imperium—a ruthless Cabal faction with suspicious ties to the Nine.

Welcome to Tharsis Outpost—Where Deals Are Dirty and Power Is Personal

Set on Mars, the new social hub Tharsis Outpost is your underworld HQ. It’s here you’ll plot jobs, cut deals, and build influence across the system while choosing just how far you’re willing to bend Destiny’s golden rules.

And if you missed the recent developer livestream, Bungie didn’t hold back—new trailer, behind-the-scenes ViDoc, and plenty of juicy details on how this expansion came together with Lucasfilm Games backing the rebellion.

Lawless Frontier Brings Risk, Reward… and Invasions?

Renegades introduces the Lawless Frontier, a new high-stakes, high-reward activity set across six maps on Venus, Europa, and Mars—all channeling classic Star Wars energy.

You’ll tackle smuggling runs, sabotage missions, and bounty hunts while trying to build street cred with three very different Syndicates:

  • The Pikers – An Eliksni biker gang with zero love for hierarchies.
  • Tharsis Reformation – Sentient Vex who just want to feel something.
  • Totality Division – Rogue Cabal psions with imperial baggage.

The new Notoriety system tracks your rep with each faction, while an opt-in Invasion mechanic lets other Guardians crash your missions for a chance at unique loot. Because nothing says Destiny like PvPvE chaos.

Praxic Blade: Your Customisable Lightsaber-Inspired Sword

Let’s talk loot. The Praxic Blade is a kinetic Exotic Sword inspired by—you guessed it—lightsabers. Fully customisable and flashy as hell, it’s the centrepiece of a weapon drop that also includes:

  • Blasters, a brand-new weapon type with heat-based firing
  • Heirloom, a Solar Exotic Crossbow
  • Service of Luzaku, a Strand Machine Gun
  • New Exotic Armour: Deimosuffusion Warlock Helmet, Fortune’s Favor Hunter Legs, Praxic Vestment Titan Chest

You’ll also gain powerful new Renegade Abilities, pushing support, DPS, and survivability in fresh directions. Basically, you get to break the rules—and look good doing it.

Equilibrium Dungeon Drops December 13

On 13 December, the new Equilibrium dungeon goes live at 9AM PT. You’ll team up with Aunor Mahal and raid a Barant warship to hunt down Dredgen Bael’s cultists. A Dungeon Race stream kicks off three hours earlier, hosted by Evanf1997 and CBGray.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be first through the breach? Check Bungie’s official channels for eligibility and rules.
