Lightsabers? Biker gangs? Rogue psions? Destiny 2: Renegades is bringing a galaxy of chaos when it lands on December 2.

Bungie just dropped the launch trailer for Destiny 2: Renegades during a special Developer Livestream—and yes, it’s exactly as space-western as you’d hope. Launching December 2, this new expansion for Year of Prophecy comes in hot with a full-blown Star Wars-inspired makeover, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

The stream also debuted “Making of a Renegade,” a behind-the-scenes ViDoc exploring how Bungie and Lucasfilm joined forces to blend Destiny’s lore with galaxy-far-far-away flavour. From kinetic swords that glow like sabres to rebellious Eliksni biker gangs, this one’s not holding back.

Praxic Blade, Blasters, and Exotic Loot Galore

Renegades adds a pile of new loot—including the standout Praxic Blade, a kinetic Exotic Sword that lets you live out your lightsaber fantasy. You can even tweak its colour and effects with custom cosmetics.

Also debuting is a brand-new weapon archetype: Blasters. These aren’t your average pew-pews—they use a heat-based firing and reloading system, ditching the traditional magazine setup entirely.

Other new Exotics landing with Renegades include:

  • Heirloom – a Solar Crossbow nodding to Chewbacca’s classic bowcaster
  • Service of Luzaku – a Strand Machine Gun
  • Deimosuffusion – Warlock Exotic Helmet
  • Fortune’s Favor – Hunter Exotic Legs
  • Praxic Vestment – Titan Exotic Chest

Lawless Frontier: Syndicates, Sabotage & Smuggling

The stream also gave us a deeper look at Lawless Frontier, a new activity built for replayability and full of faction-flavoured chaos. Players will gain Notoriety by completing Syndicate jobs—think Smuggling, Bounty Hunts, and Sabotage ops—across Mars, Europa, and Venus.

There are three Syndicates to work with:

  • The Pikers – Eliksni biker anarchists
  • Tharsis Reformation – rogue Vex seeking individual identity
  • Totality Division – Mars-based psion-run Cabal offshoot

Maps are getting a refresh too, with new routes and arenas perfect for firefights or sneaky infiltration. Plus, Invasion Mode lets you spawn into another player’s run for a bit of PvPvE mayhem—and yes, there are rewards.

New Powers, New Dungeon, and That Pre-Order Swag

Renegades also brings in Renegades Abilities, letting you bend the rules of combat with offensive, defensive, and support powers that evolve as you play. It’s Destiny 2 with a rogue twist.

The expansion’s dungeon, Equilibrium, launches December 13 with a full Dungeon Race stream hosted by Evanf1997 and CBGray. That kicks off at 6AM PT, with the dungeon itself opening at 9AM PT. More on that in the This Week in Destiny blog.
