Square Enix has finally given us a proper look at Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles with a brand-new gameplay trailer, and honestly? It’s shaping up to be the tactical RPG glow-up fans have been begging for. Launching September 30 on pretty much everything that can run a game, this is the return to Ivalice we’ve been waiting for.

Tactical Battles, Modern Touch

The trailer flexes all the tactical goodness you’d expect: tile-based battlefields, careful positioning, brutal spells, and the constant fear of losing your best ally forever because you left them bleeding out one square too far from help. The job system’s back in full force, letting you experiment, min-max, and argue endlessly online about which setup is truly “the meta.”

On top of the classic formula, Square’s layering in quality-of-life upgrades — a slick new UI, autosaves, extra difficulty settings, and enhanced visuals that keep the old-school charm but actually look good on a modern TV. Oh, and yes, fully voiced dialogue too.

Ramza’s Story Reborn

For anyone who missed it the first time, this is the tale of Ramza Beoulve, a noble caught in the middle of Ivalice’s messy web of betrayal, politics, and ambition. It’s one of gaming’s most beloved stories — and now it’s getting a polished script, voice acting, and the presentation it always deserved.

Coming Soon to… Basically Everything

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles launches September 30, 2025 on Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Steam Deck. If you’ve got a console, you’re invited to the war.

It looks like Square Enix is doing right by a legend — keeping the tactics tough, the story sharp, and the presentation modern. The Kingdom of Ivalice is about to open its gates again, and we’re already sharpening our blades.
