1996 is regarded by many to be the last stop for Duke Nukem; the titular, comical hero last made his appearance in 1196’s ‘Duke Nukem 3D’ before being thrown into development hell for 15 years for the disappointing ‘Duke Nukem Forever’.

…And now, the king is back baby! As announced by Gearbox Software, the original Duke Nukem 3D is returning to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and has been expanded with an all-new, all-original set of eight levels for players to romp, shoot and blow up! The game returns with two of the original designers for Duke Nukem 3D, Allen Blum III and Richard “Levelord” Gray, alongside original sound composer Lee Jackson, and of course, the one and only voice for the king, Jon St. John himself.

The game aims to be a ‘Halo Anniversary’ of sorts, allowing players to play through the entire game with the original 1996 graphics, or in Gearbox’s “True 3D Rendering Mode”; the whole package is then neatly tied up, with the inclusion of developer commentary throughout the entire game, featuring the original cast and developers.
