Today marks the launch of PixARK, a voxel-based survival game, just a week after the release of ARK Park, the series first entry into virtual reality.
PixARK – an Early Access title available on Steam – Is a hybrid of Ark: Survival Evolved and Minecraft, focused on crafting and survival. In addition to mere base building, players will be able to encounter and tame over one-hundred species, craft high-tech or magical tools, and utilise a character progression system to help tailor their experience. The game contains procedurally generated maps filled with procedurally generated quests. PixARK allows both single and multi-player, as well as an optional Creative Mode. It is currently on sale for $19.99 USD on Steam (RRP $24.99).
ARK Park, released during last week’s Game Developer Conference in San Fransisco, allows players to experience a virtual theme park with a twist. Visitors can interact with various rides and over one-hundred different species spread across six different biomes, can experience the park with their friends, craft items and weapons for use in game, and even raise their own dinosaurs. Currently available on HTC Vive (SteamVR and Viveport), PSVR, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets starting at $39.99USD.
This is the start of the inevitable sell out with Ark, we are going to see more titles like these being chucked at us with amazing marketing campaigns until we get sick of the half finished games and they move onto the next scam :-\
