Detailed during Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference, during Todd Howard’s 25th year at Bethesda, Fallout 76 gained a massive number of updates; focusing on Vault 76, one of the first Vaults to open in West Virginia, originally constructed to celebrate America’s 300 year anniversary.

Awaiting Reclamation Day, the day the Vault door opens, our protagonist finally exits the vault to find the world astonishingly changed, after 25 years spent underground – 16 times the detail and expanded view distances and weather dynamics are featured, with the state of West Virginia supposedly holding it’s own unique nuclear secrets.

Featuring the folklore of West Virginia, bringing it to life with brand new monsters and enemies, the irradiated wastes of Fallout have never felt so terrifyingly hostile.

Todd Howard also detailed that, surprisingly, each character is a real person, meaning that Fallout 76 is an entirely online title.

He strained that solo play is entirely plausible, and is balanced enough to accommodate; their focus was to bring the multiplayer experience to their single player titles, which birthed into Fallout 76.

Survival is a huge aspect of Fallout 76, featuring a softcore survival system; death never means the loss of progression or characters, neither are servers an issue – Dozens of players are grouped at a time, peer-to-peer, with a dynamic sharing of progression between lobbies.

PVP seems to be a permanent feature in Fallout 76, however, with rewards being given to players when killing bounties and other players; groups are also supported, with multiplayer quests taking a big focus, alongside other small activities like playing instruments, exploring dungeons and sharing emotes between eachother – Crafting is also featured, similarly to Fallout 4.

Settlements have also been expanded, to be able to be built, and moved, to any any point in the map when desired. C.A.M.P. units allocate a designated area around the C.A.M.P. unit, letting players build their own settlements and team bases wherever they like. Settlements can also, just like in Fallout 4, be destroyed by monsters and raiders throughout the wasteland. There’s also a camera mode, allowing you to share your favourite moments and kills with friends.

Multiple nuclear missile sites can be found across the map, with player interaction being allowed, letting players do whatever they like with them… Even if that means devastating the very wasteland… Nuclear weapons seem to be guarded heavily by bandits and warring factions; through locating codes that will unlock the silo, players will be able to secure nuclear weaponry, and devastate entire portions of the map with a player-targeted missile strike…

The platform also has 100% dedicated servers, that will support Fallout 76 for years to come – Bethesda are holding a Beta for Fallout 76; the Break-it Early Test Application (B.E.T.A.) will be the first time in Bethesda history where gamers will be given early access to a first-party Bethesda game.

The Collectors’ Edition (Power Armour Edition) for Fallout 76 will feature a glow-in-the-dark irradiated (Not really) map, that comes with figures you can place on the map, a T-51 Power Armour helmet with voice changing, a headlight, and is fully wearable.

Fallout 76 will release on 14th November, 2018.
